You Shall Pursue
This piece explores the theme of balance and justice. Quotes from Deuteronomy about our obligation to fairness in dealing with the law, including the phrase, “Justice, Justice you shall pursue” are written on the base. 18 “weights” are docked in front and can be stacked on both sides of the “scale” in endless combinations. One half of a sphere is mounted on top of the center scroll column. Another half, mounted on the crossbeam, moves back and forth when weights are placed. They align perfectly when “balance” is achieved. I like the phases of the moon kind of feel you get when the two hemispheres play with each other as weights are added to each side. And I like the fact that the hemisphere puts extra weight on whatever side it is leaning once it is not centered, to kind of imply that things aren't always fair or equal when it comes to trying to balance things
SELF CONTAINED, INDOOR: includes a section of door frame incorporated into the base of the piece so it can be displayed anywhere indoors.
FREE STANDING: to be displayed on a table, shelf or pedestal - no doorway or wall needed.
DIMENSIONS: 13” tall, 8” wide, 4” deep
